At Sun Capsule, we believe in getting the most out of our pro- prietary 2 meter (6’7”) lamp.
As most people know, because of the cathode at each end of a lamp, there’s virtually no UV output coming from the first and last five inches of any sunlamp.
So why use a 6’7” lamp in a vertical tanning system when your average customer is between 5’2” and 5’10”? It seems like a lot of the UV output is going right over your customers’ head, while missing their lower legs.
Why not elevate the floor and position the customer in the performance range of the lamp? Something we like to call ‘The Zone’.

The Eclipse features the most powerful 2 meter Cosmolux VHR/HP lamp ever built, and a ballast that drives the lamp all the way to 250 watts.
The patented blend of 4 phosphors mirror the high pressure UV spectrum, producing almost 3 times the UVA output of a typical 160 watt lamp. The deep dark tan from an Eclipse rivals the tan produced from high pressure systems but at a fraction of the cost.
There is nothing remotely close that will produce such a breathtaking tan in just a few short sessions, and make as much money in the process.
Size Matters
It’s huge! Sexual innuendos aside, when you step into this spacious 8 sided dressing room, you instantly get a feeling of ‘Big’. Complete with mirror, vanity shelf, coat hooks and chair, the private dressing room has a 30% larger interior, almost 16 square feet, yet it doesn’t take up any more overall space than our original 6 sided dressing room.
And speaking of dressing rooms, Sun Capsule is the only tanning system to offer a completely integrated changing room as part of the product. It’s not an afterthought. It was designed that way from the beginning to give your customer a total sense of privacy.
The important thing to remember is that you can order your Eclipse either way; with or without the integrated changing room. Very cool.
If'n it's Good... Patent It!
The Eclipse features our patented 5.5 sided design that delivers 20% more UV output to the front of the body with less lamps than our original 6 sided design.
You thought this was going to be something naughty, didn’t you? Standing comfortably in a vertical system just makes the time go by faster. Of course, in an Eclipse, you are only in there for a few short minutes to begin with, but we want you standing in the right place when you tan so we have added some really neat positioning devices.
Rather than the hand grips positioning the customer, our latest innovation allows the customer to position the hand grips. This clever variable-position device adjusts to each individual, allowing them to stand in the most comfortable spot while tanning.
By the way, you don’t have to stand on your tip toes like Vanessa. We just thought it added something to the photo. O.K. So it’s a little naughty.
Frosted acrylics? In a Sun Capsule? Blasphemy! We spent 30 years perfecting the perfect metal lamp guard. We spaced the vertical wires so they lined up in between the lamps so as not to interfere with UV output. We painted them with a special military spec paint (at about $800 per gallon) similar to the same paint used on the B1 Stealth bomber, resulting in an increased UV reflectivity. Why would we ever offer the new Eclipse series with optional frosted acrylics? They are expensive, and as time wears on, they cut down the UV transmittance and need to be replaced. And of course, cleaning becomes a chore.
So why offer an optional frosted acrylic package? They look the balls and some customers won’t order a tanning machine without them. So there.
